Essence of Harris

About the brand:

Essence of Harris, a luxury candle and home living brand based on the Isle of Harris, was founded in 2015 by partners Jamie and Deenie McGowan. With sustainability in mind, they sought to produce high quality, natural products that also allowed for the creation of stable, year-round employment for the younger generation of islanders who were moving away for opportunities and employment. In five years, the Essence of Harris team has grown to 25 graduates, apprentices and young people who have sought to build their career on the Isle of Harris.

Jamie and Deenie's passion for showcasing Scottish provenance and craftsmanship has always been at the forefront of everything the business does. Using only soy wax and the finest ingredients in each of their candles, home fragrance and bath & body products allows them to share the tranquility of the island with customers near and far and the team at Essence of Harris now export their hand poured products worldwide, ensuring that customers across the globe can enjoy a piece of the Hebrides in their home. However, even with brand growth, the team have remained true to the traditions of the island as they continue to hand pour, package and fulfill everything from their factory in Tarbert.
