Raising money is an essential part of the creative industries but is the Achilles heel for most artists. The topic of fundraising is often shrouded in mystery...until now. Join Edward Crozier (Current Chair of The Theatre Royal Glasgow, Board member of Scottish Opera's Endowment Fund, Previous Chair of Scotland's Contemporary Dance Company and Past President of Scottish Rugby) and Diane Mulcahy (Institutional investor, head of private equity at the Kauffman Foundation and author of "The Gig Economy") as they discuss the motivations of why investors give money to the arts and demystify the other half of the creative industries equation.

Jessica Fox is a tv/film director, author and story consultant. She created/starred in the Youtube series “My Famous Dead Boyfriend”, directed commercials for PictoProductions and her short “Bluebeard” featured internationally at festivals. Her memoir, “Three Things You Need to Know About Rockets” was ‘romantic memoir of the year’ (Daily Mail) and is in development with Endeavor Content. Most recently she wrapped on her first feature film, “Stella” set in 1937 Scotland and co-founded Innerwell Media. Off set, Jessica created The Open Book, Airbnb’s most popular destination, and is a storytelling consultant for science organizations like NASA. Jessica is proud to be XpoNorth's film sector specialist.

Diane Mulcahy
Author, The Gig Economy
Six years ago, before it was even a thing, Diane created the first course in the country on the Gig Economy and teaches it in the MBA program at Babson College. The course gained immediate traction and was named by Forbes as one of the Top Ten Most Innovate Business School Courses in the country.
Out of that course grew a book. Diane is the author of The Gig Economy (Harper Collins), a bestselling book on Amazon that has been translated into five languages and featured widely in national media including CNN, Forbes, Huffington Post, National Public Radio, NECN, The New York Times, The New Yorker, Oprah.com, PBS, USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and Worth.
In addition to her work in the Gig Economy, Diane has been a professional investor for the past 15 years. She is an Advisor to the Kauffman Foundation on their private equity portfolio and was a venture capital (VC) investor for over a decade. Diane writes and speaks regularly about venture capital investing. She is the author We Have Met the Enemy …and He Is Us, a widely read report on the VC industry.
