How do you shape recollections and choose facts when writing memoir? Join two acclaimed writers as they talk about how best to frame a personal story in an original way. Amy Liptrot’s powerful and inspirational memoir The Outrun was awarded the 2016 Wainwright Prize and was shortlisted for the 2016 Wellcome Prize.
Cathy Rentzenbrink is the author of The Last Act of Love, A Manual for Heartache and Dear Reader: The Comfort and Joy of Books, and a novel Everyone Is Still Alive. She speaks and writes regularly on life, death, love, literature, literacy and mental health. Chaired by literary agent Jenny Brown.

Founder, Jenny Brown Associates
Jenny Brown established the Edinburgh-based literary agency Jenny Brown Associates in 2002. The agency is known for representing Scottish-based writers of literary and crime fiction, narrative nonfiction, and writing for children. She was previously founder director of the Edinburgh International Book Festival, (of which she is now Vice Chair) and Head of Literature at the Scottish Arts Council. She is Chair of the crime writing festival Bloody Scotland.

Cathy Rentzenbrink is the author of The Last Act of Love, A Manual for Heartache and Dear Reader: The Comfort and Joy of Books, and a novel Everyone Is Still Alive. She speaks and writes regularly on life, death, love, literature, literacy and mental health, and is often to be found doing bookish events at festivals, in shops and libraries, and in prisons. In previous lives Cathy worked for The Bookseller, The Reading Agency, Quick Reads, Waterstones and The Bell & Crown Inn.

Journalist and Author
Amy Liptrot has published her work with various magazines, journals and blogs and she has written a regular column for Caught by the River out of which her memoir The Outrun emerged. As well as writing for major newspapers including the Guardian and the Observer, Amy has worked as an artist’s model, a trampolinist and in a shellfish factory. The Outrun was awarded the 2016 Wainwright Prize and was shortlisted for the 2016 Wellcome Prize.
