Narrative Non Fiction: What’s Selling Now?
We are living in an age of nonfiction. What are publishers looking for in good nonfiction, and what is selling in the shops? And what are the titles booksellers would like to see on the shelves? Andrew Franklin is the Managing Director of London-based independent publisher Profile Books which publishes history, business, science and biography. Bestselling authors include Mary Beard, Alan Bennett and Atul Gwande. Profile's Scottish-based authors include Gavin Francis and Shaun Bythell whose Diary of a Bookseller has been translated into 20 languages. Angie Crawford has been a bookseller for over twenty years starting first in Dillon’s and Waterstones in Inverness before moving to Waterstones head office to be a children’s buyer. After a four year stint at Ottakar’s Head Office, she moved back to Waterstones to be the Scottish Buyer. There are currently 27 Waterstones stores in Scotland.
