Who is it for?
This course is for anyone that is interested in learning more about the circular economy, specifically within the textiles sector. It will provide participants with the initial tools to start questioning linear business models and give individuals the confidence to begin new conversations about how circular strategies can improve efficiencies, save money and reduce environmental impact.
What is the workshop format? The workshop is an interactive 2-hour virtual session. Participants will listen to an overview of the circular economy and be introduced to 9 circular models.
In the first breakout session small groups will discuss a set of 30 ideas cards. The cards pose some interesting questions - what if waste was illegal? What if products were designed to fit recycling systems? Showcasing Scottish companies already doing things differently.
The second breakout session participants use fictional business to explore how traditional linear business models can take steps to become circular (from sourcing of materials to end of product life), using a structured toolkit to guide the conversation.
We will close with an overview of Zero Waste Scotland’s Circular Textiles Fund – which is currently open for applications.
