Let's say you have an idea for a series or film. Now what? How do you get your brilliant vision seen and heard? We have three words for you: My SMASH Media. We're so excited to have co-founders Fiona Gillies and Christine Hartland of My SMASH Media, an online platform where you can pitch your projects to the perfect audience, join us for a special workshop; learn how to use this incredibly powerful tool/community/marketplace, hear more about collaborations and current call outs for writers and ask the heroines behind this media revolution all your questions.
Fiona Gillies – Co-founder / CEO
Fiona Gillies is an independent film producer and co-founder of My SMASH Media, the IP marketplace for the creative industries, with fellow independent producer Christine Hartland. Fiona and Christine met on the Creative England Market Trader programme.
Fiona produced THE BEAT BENEATH MY FEET which was in competition at the Berlin Film Festival and released worldwide. DUMMY premiered in Edinburgh and BIFA nominated CITY SLACKER which is available in over 40 countries worldwide.
She received funding from Creative England/BFI for SOME SWEET OBLIVIOUS ANTIDOTE starring Sir Lenny Henry and Wumni Mosaku.
She has been a mentor for Women in Film & TV and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Christine Hartland – Co-founder / COO
Christine Hartland is an independent film producer and co-founder of My SMASH Media, the IP marketplace for the creative industries, with fellow independent producer Fiona Gillies. Christine and Fiona met on the Creative England Market Trader programme.
Christine’s debut feature, the thriller WMD in 2008, was one of the first films to follow a reverse distribution strategy. She produced CONTAINMENT which was released and sold worldwide. She received Creative Europe and BFI development funding. She is a member of Women in Film & TV and BECTU.
Christine is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Please note, this opportunity is only open to creative, digital and heritage networks based across the Highlands and Islands.
Applicants will also be required to complete a short application form detailing the specific parts of their business or project they feel the training could help develop.
Applications are limited, so this will be on a first come first served basis.

Uniquely, SMASH is free for content creators. There’s a 5% success fee if your project is matched.
We also offer film sales estimates as part of our Services Package, these provide global producers with current valuations for their projects.
My SMASH Media was founded by independent feature producers Fiona Gillies and Christine Hartland who joined forces with tech expert Mahesh Ramachandra.
My SMASH Media were finalists in Investing Women’s AccelerateHER Competition in the Disruptive Tech category and in the Digital TV Group TV Transformers' competition. The platform showcased at the European Film Market at the Berlin Film Festival and was a finalist at the prestigious San Sebastian Film Festival Zinemaldia Startup competition and Makers & Shakers Awards.
