Sitting Down with the Author: “The Grief Handbook”, by Bridget McNulty
South African Bridget McNulty has previously worked with XpoNorth on brand storytelling workshops and through its LevelUp! programme with the University of the Highlands and Islands. Bridget now joins XpoNorth to share her insights into how she turned a need for support into an internationally published book, 'The Grief Handbook'.
When Bridget lost her mum suddenly, she couldn’t find the support that she needed. Looking to help others facing a similar problem, she set about writing 'The Grief Handbook' to ensure that there was practical and sympathetic advice for anyone navigating grief.
As part of her writing process Bridget consulted professional experts and learned the art of writing about personal experience and how to make that marketable in the writing world. During this webinar, Bridget will discuss how she identified a gap from her own needs and turned to her writing to fill a space within the publishing market.
Bridget is a Type 1 diabetic and co-founder of Sweet Life, South Africa's largest online diabetes community. She is also the co-founder of Now Novel, an online novel-writing course.
This event will be chaired by literary agent Jenny Brown, founder of Edinburgh based Jenny Brown Associates.
'The Grief Handbook' is being published in South Africa, the UK and the US on the 13th July 2021, and is the first grief handbook to combine personal, lived experience with expert guidance for navigating loss.
