XpoNorth seeks composers for unique workshop opportunity
Composing Music for Film and Television Workshop
Wednesday 24th & Thursday 25th February
XpoNorth are now seeking applications from composers based in the Highlands and Islands to take part in a unique two day bootcamp working with the music teams from Sky (SATV) and Adidas (Record-Play).
In this intense workshop you will be working on two briefs - one for the team at Record-Play (who look after music for Adidas globally as well as many other clients in advertising, gaming and more) and one for Sky (the leading UK broadcaster, working with their in-house music team).
The event will be produced by Score Draw Music - a multi-award winning team of composers with studios in the UK and Ireland working across visual media.
Each day participants will be challenged to produce a piece of music from scratch for a simulated brief - this could be a promo film, an ad placement or a piece of underscore. Composers will have access to a film and will be expected to score and upload (to picture) a music submission by 4pm on the same day.
Each brief will be set (on zoom) by a member of Sky and Record-Play’s in-house teams- and at the end of day 2 all participants submissions will be played and critiqued by the music supervisors.
The event will also include lunchtime chats with music supervisors and publishers working in the UK on sync and music placement across the media industries.
The Composing Music for Film and Television workshop will take place on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 February.
Please note, spaces on this high-level workshop are limited in order to make the event as productive as possible for attendees. To register your interest in participating, please email Ashley Lawrie (ashleylawrie@xponorth.co.uk) with the following details:
- Name
- Location
- Short Bio (particularly any experience composing for the moving image, although this is not essential)
- Examples of previous work (Only submit links to your music/ projects, please do not attach files.)
The deadline for submissions is Friday 19 February.
