Travel Writing: Where we’re at now

Just a decade ago, there were gloomy predictions of the death of the travel magazine, the guidebook and other forms of travel writing. And yet the sector is currently booming. In these days of Trip Advisor, Google, peer reviews and paid “influencers” is there still a place for travel writing and in all its forms? Is it less or more influential as it once was, and where is it heading? With the plethora of platforms and the abundance of information, in this session, Lyn Hughes and Brigid Benson will introduce their work and look at where travel writing is now, and ask what its influence is, and what lies ahead.
