Fund Opens To Support Civic And University Museums As Deadline Approaches For Recovery And Resilience Fund

Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) have announced the opening of a new COVID-19 Museum Development Fund. It will be open to organisations that manage Accredited museums that have not been eligible for the Recovery and Resilience Fund – civic (local authority and ALEO run museums) and university museums, and will enable them to carry out projects that respond to the challenges brought about by the Coronavirus pandemic. There will be two rounds of funding, closing on 13 November 2020 and 5 February 2021.

Since August the Recovery and Resilience Fund has been open to independent museums, as sector feedback showed that they faced the most immediate financial uncertainty. MGS has directly contacted all eligible museums in Scotland and urges them to apply before the 30th October deadline for independent museums. Applications are being assessed on a rolling basis.
