Before starting the XpoNorth Live! course I definitely would have considered myself a camera (or microphone) shy person. Despite having previous experience in podcasting, I found the thought of speaking live on the radio very intimidating. However, I went on to the course with an open mind; ready to learn new skills and try new things.
Over the two weeks I built upon existing skills and learnt new ones. For example, before starting the course I had no idea how to edit anything, now I’d like to think that I can do this pretty well. I also gained experience in producing a radio show, including how to compose a running order and scripts.
I gained an abundance of experience
Working with mentors who have such an involvement in the industry helped motivate and inspire me. I think that not only did the mentors play a huge part in the educational side of the programme, but they also contributed a lot to the overall enjoyment of this experience.
For anyone thinking about getting involved in XpoNorth Live next year I would highly recommend it. It was such a fantastic opportunity and I got everything (and more) that I wanted from it; I gained an abundance of experience and met some amazing people. What more can you ask for?!
