XpoNorth Live! 2015 Team

Two weeks is a long time in the media industry, especially when there are four mentors barking orders and instructions for ten hours each day. 2015 has been the most professional year yet on air, with each of the trainees throwing themselves into the rigor of broadcasting and producing at the standards that are expected in the industry.

Read below about each of the trainees' experiences, and you can see them slightly fresher faced here at the start of the course.

Hello there, Mark here with the tasking of trying to capture those two incredible two weeks as a radio trainee for XpoNorth Live!

An unexpected blend of master-class; hands on experience both front and back of house; with a bunch of diverse individuals thrown into the mix, created a whirlwind of live radio which delivered a vibrant, challenging but enjoyable experience in the art of learning about ‘radioland’.

Three days after the end of XpoNorth Live! and the experience is just beginning to sink in. Words to describe it  – intense, invigorating, slightly mad, stimulating, frenzied chaos (at times), hard, great fun, a sense of achievement, rewarding, intriguing and more…

Well, what can I say…it was an incredible experience. New skills were learnt, new friends made and a fantastic time was had.

The experience of being a part of XpoNorth Live! was amazing. Dabster Productions supported us along the way and taught us a lot. We all got to present, work along with our co-hosts on air, record live music, interview new artist music bands and interview people who were part of XpoNorth.

I have nothing but positive thoughts about my XpoNorth Live! experience. I found it went to the right pace for me and it challenged me to get out of my comfort zone. It was an experience I would recommend to anybody with an interest in radio and media.

Before starting the XpoNorth Live! course I definitely would have considered myself a camera (or microphone) shy person. Despite having previous experience in podcasting, I found the thought of speaking live on the radio very intimidating.
