Coleen really captures the sights and textures of Shetland in her pieces whether it be replicating the twinkly sea, or the textures of the old traditional crofthooses that are dotted around the landscape.
Location: Shetland
I have lived in Shetland all my life, and sometimes perhaps take the landscapes and scenery for granted, but I hope I've managed to capture some of the sights and textures of Shetland in my pieces... whether it be trying to replicate the twinkly sea in my 'Shetland' collection, or the textures of the old traditional Shetland 'crofthooses' that we see dotted around our landscapes. I live on the island of Yell, (Shetland islands). I design and create a range of Silver jewellery from a small workshop at the back of my house. I attended a silver-smithing night class on the neighbouring island of Unst several years ago and loved it! I was then offered redundancy from my admin job of over 20 years, so decided to grab the opportunity and try my hand at designing and making silver jewellery of my own. My newest "Libby" collection was inspired by my beautiful peerie (small) granddaughter.I am a 1-woman-set up, so a lot of my pieces are individually hand-made (all my bangles, rings etc) are therefore unique - and every piece will be slightly different... I also have some pieces cast in Silver (in order to be able to have certain designs more readily available).
