Design Network launches

The Design Network is an exciting new platform for the design community in the Highlands and Islands, hosted in partnership by the Glasgow School of Art and Highlands and Islands Enterprise

The network launched at XpoNorth and over the summer we have travelled across the Highlands and Islands to host sessions with designers and businesses. 'Design on the Road' sessions so far have covered:  Skills for Strategic Design Consulting, Bespoke, Boutique and International, Preparing for Art School, Exploiting Creativity with Software Tools and 3D Printing.

Already, a wide range of designers – from fashion design to graphic design - all living and working in the Highlands and Islands have signed up to the network.  You can sign-up for our newsletter and keep up to date with what’s happening across the Design Network through our holding website DesignHighlands.

Design Network - the future

We’re working towards developing the newly-launched Design Network into an internationally-linked, entrepreneurial design and design research community to help support a flourishing design community in the Highland and Islands.

This month the Design Network team head out to Dutch Design Week to present the work of the network, and to share the stories of designers in the Highlands and Islands with international audiences.   We’re currently developing the next phase of the network programme, which includes more 'Design on the Road' sessions and opportunities for designers to meet businesses.

We’re really keen that designers in the region help to shape the development of the network. If you’d like more information on the design network please contact Kate Hooper.
