Ana from our Future Creative course with Jason Lust shares their insights on how their trip went to Glasgow last week:
"Our day began boarding the minibus at UHI Inverness headed to Glasgow. Our destination was Blazing Griffin, a renowned production company based in the heart of Glasgow.
At Blazing Griffin, we were welcomed with open arms and treated to a fascinating session where the team shared insights into the early days of the company and their big ideas, which eventually led to the creation of successful films. The passion and dedication were evident in their storytelling and left us inspired and eager to continue working on our projects.
After our session at Blazing Griffin, we made our way to the Glasgow Film Theatre where we attended an exclusive screening of one of Blazing Griffin's latest features’ Anna and the Apocalypse’ (2017). The film blended elements of horror, romance, and humour, evoking a rollercoaster of emotions that captivated us from start to finish.
Our day finished at our last stop at the BBC offices in Glasgow, where we had the privilege of meeting Gavin Smith, the head of production. In an informal and open conversation, Gavin shared insights into the intricacies of screenwriting and offered invaluable advice on how to navigate the competitive landscape of the TV industry. It was an extraordinary opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge from a well-established professional.
We all enjoyed meeting like-minded peers who enjoy creating and telling stories, and perhaps the most rewarding aspect was sharing our passion for film and television in a vibrant and welcoming city."
