Glasgow Film Theatre, Eden Court Highlands and Glasgow Short Film Festival launch the Young Scottish Filmmakers Prize
We are delighted to announce that Glasgow Film Theatre is partnering with Eden Court Highlands and Glasgow Short Film Festival to deliver the inaugural year of the Young Scottish Filmmakers Prize, supported by the BFI Film Academy (awarding funds from the National Lottery) and the Gannochy Trust.
The competition is open to young filmmakers aged 18-25 who have completed a film within the last two years. Glasgow Film Theatre has consulted with GMAC Film and Glasgow Short Film Festival to design a prize that will empower young people to pursue their film industry ambitions. Entrants will be considered for the prize in two categories. The first category is for young people who have completed a film with support, whether from university or college, an organisation like GMAC Film, a programme like BFI Film Academy or who have received funding or technical assistance. The second category is for filmmakers who have not received formal education or training or funding during the production of their film. The prize winner in each category will receive £1,500 to invest on furthering their film career and all of the shortlisted films will be exhibited at Glasgow Short Film Festival, which will take place from 23 - 27 March 2022.
