Event: Introduction to Screenwriting: A Whole New Language Workshop
Date: Saturday 30th April 2016
Time: 10am - 5pm
Location: Shetland Museum & Archives, Hay's Dock, Lerwick, ZE1 0WP
Cost: £10 per person (plus booking fee) includes full-day workshop, buffet lunch and refreshments
This one-day intensive workshop will introduce writers to the language and format of screenwriting, giving you the basic tools and information you need to write a screenplay.
The day is part lecture, part workshop/seminar, culminating in a fun pitching session.
We will walk you through the process of getting your screenplay idea out of your head and onto the printed page, show you how to format your screenplay to make it readable and well paced. Help you define your story’s characters, obstacles, and scope; understand the importance of each of the three acts in a traditional narrative structure; and discover how to build tension and reveal key plot points.
The workshops is hosted by XpoNorth Writing & Publishing and is led by Sara Bailey who has recently returned to Orkney after 37 years. Sara is a writer, researcher and lecturer who has been working with authors, screenwriters and writers as a consultant and facilitator for many years. She has had two film scripts commissioned by Cutting Edge Productions.
There will be lots of opportunities for you to ask questions and discuss your ideas during the workshop sessions.
