The shortlist for the prestigious 2016 MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards was announced earlier this month.

A total of sixteen awards will be made to a cross-reach of the best Scottish traditional talent and events from across the country. The varied range of voting categories include Album of the Year, Event of the Year, Gaelic Singer of the Year, Live Act of the Year and Community Project of the Year.

Among the acts, organisations, venues, projects and events to make the final shortlist are the Orkney Folk Festival, Elgin venue, the Drouthy Cobbler, Feis Rois, Niteworks, Skerryvore, Blazin’ Fiddles, and Kris Drever.

Voting is open until Friday 18th November, with the winners announced at the official ceremony in Dundee’s Caird Hall on Saturday 3rd December. Tickets for the event are available here.
