Over sixty bands performed at the XpoNorth festival, here’s a selection of those who came into the studio for an acoustic session. In Part One and Part Two you’ll find sessions from Hector Bizerk, Huxtable, Finn LeMarinel and many more.

Josephine Sillars

If Ben Folds were a 19 year-old girl from Inverness, he’d probably sound something like this.

Miss Irenie Rose

Miss Irenie Rose is a singer songwriter from the Isle of Lewis who plays guitar and uses a loop pedal. She has been likened to Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez.

Le Thug

Le Thug are a band from Glasgow and the Outer Hebrides who combine fuzzy guitar, electronica and etheral vocals to produce their own dreamy soundscapes and melodies.

JR Green

JR Green are two brothers from Strontian bringing a more youthful, virile edge to folk and traditional music.

Pale Fire

Pale Fire are based in Coatbridge and they released their eponymous debut album in March 2015. The album was recorded at Chem19 studios by Jamie Savage, receiving notable accolades and mainstream airplay since its release.

Poor Things

Poor Things are an indie rock band originally from Perth and now based all over Scotland, influenced by the melodies of Weezer, the sun kissed harmonies of Teenage Fanclub, and the adventure of Malkmus and Pavement.

Sunshine Social

A group of multi-instrumentalists hailing from Glasgow, pairing the intimacy and lyricism of an open mic night with the foot-stomping tunes of a summer festival.

Bite Night
