We start proceedings on the evening of Tuesday 7th June at the One Touch Theatre with our Making Place: Place Making showcase, which will explore the work, practice and markets of nine Highlands and Islands designer/makers.

Event: Making Place: Place Making

The designers will provide a valuable insight into their ‘making place’ through the tools and materials they work with. Going beyond these private and safe creative spaces makers will also introduce their locales, sharing how the places in which they are based influences and impacts on their craft practice. There will be the opportunity to view sample work, images and film from the makers.

Then on Wednesday 8th June we focus on international sales, welcoming back Laurian Davies from UK Fashion and Textiles with ShowTalk- The Inside Track on Overseas Design Shows.

Exhibiting at a trade show remains one of the best ways to reach buyers. But with hundreds of shows on the international circuit, how do new designers or established brands decide which one is right for them? This session explains UKFT’s exhibition programme, how to get accepted into shows, how to promote yourself to buyers, and find financial help.

Then later in the afternoon our session Making Your Location Your USP: Selling To A Worldwide Audience Online looks at why location is key to your success, and how selling online gives you the opportunity to make this your unique selling point.
