XpoNorth Podcast #002: Sarah Burns
The second of XpoNorth's Podcast, XpoNorth Digital Sector Specialist, Tim Wright, is in conversation with Sarah Burns, a Scottish based Landscape Artist and photographer where she explains her journey into patronage and shares insight into how she approaches her continued engagement with her community.
These podcasts have been curated by XpoNorth to highlight different ways that you can potentially generate new ideas, products, services and income, during what is a very difficult period for most businesses and organisations.
As part of our series of posts on the emergence of patronage and membership models we wanted to speak to people already engaging in the process and ask them to share their experience.
Sarah Burns is a Scottish based landscape artist and photographer who has been using Patreon for five years. By sharing her creative journey, offering guidance and advice through her live streamed “paint along” sessions, and a series of limited edition content and products she has created a loyal and engaged community many of whom subscribe as patrons. Sarah describes it as the “nearest thing she has to a pay cheque.”
Sarah describes how she became involved with patronage models, the ups and downs of it and offers excellent advice and insight to any creative thinking of going on a similar journey.
