
£6M fund will provide much needed support to Scotland’s Events Industry
Scotland’s events industry has been devastated by the coronavirus pandemic. It was one of the first industries to stop when government restrictions on large gatherings were introduced back in March and it will be one of the last to restart.
Events by their nature involve a diverse mix of businesses that do not operate in isolation. Many of these businesses have been severely impacted by the lockdown, particularly those in the supply chain who have lost a whole season of work with summer events either cancelled or rescheduled.
Fifty-seven percent of respondents to our recent supply chain survey said they are 100% reliant on the events sector for their business turnover, while a further 26% of businesses say they rely on events for more than 61% of their business so ensuring their survival is paramount if we are to protect Scotland’s status as a world-leading events destination.
