Call for Visual Artists: International Residency Programme Returns
Applications are now open to Scottish visual artists to apply for a two-month residency at France’s prestigious art museum, school and research institution, Villa Arson, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.
With access to a workspace, curatorial mentoring, networking opportunities, accommodation on site at Villa Arson and a monthly stipend of £2,100 throughout the duration of their stay, the residency offers artists dedicated time and space to develop their practice and create new work.
The opportunity is part of a wider UK/Franco artist residency programme known as Magneticwhich, now in its third edition, is co-ordinated by Fluxus Arts Projects and has been expanded across ten prestigious institutions in France and the UK including Scotland’s international artist residency centre, Cove Park.
Emma Nicolson, Head of Visual Arts at Creative Scotland commented:
“The Magnetic Artists Residency programme is uniquely placed to cultivate artistic growth through cross-cultural exchange, fostering enduring cooperation between the visual arts communities of the UK and France.
Previous residencies have seen French artists Carla Adra and David Douard hosted at Cove Park and Scotland’s Chizu Anucha at Villa Arson, and as the residencies open for a third round of applications, we eagerly anticipate witnessing how a new cohort of artists draw inspiration from the chance to delve into creative, societal, and environmental themes within fresh international settings.”
The programme has received backing from The National Lottery through Creative Scotland and has an application deadline of Monday 15 July 2024.
