Keeping the UK’s creative industries globally competitive: survey for UK creative organisations and freelancers
The UK describes itself as world leading in many areas. One of those in which this is undoubtedly true is our creative industries. The creative industries are at the heart of the UK economy; an exporting powerhouse and a vital employer. The success of the creative industries sector is highly dependent on international talent and trade. However, over the last few years, evidence has suggested that the backbone of policy which has supported our international standing - whether migration, trade or foreign policy - has weakened. This has left the sector exposed to skills shortages, less able to sell goods and services and under-estimated as a soft power asset. The Erskine Analysis and University of the Arts London commission that this survey will feed into will provide recommendations to reverse this trend and to protect the UK's prosperity and security.
