
Group leads events Industry recovery plans
Scotland’s first national Events Industry Advisory Group has been established to represent the events and festivals sector amid the devastating impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Following a series of industry-wide forums hosted by EventScotland to assess the impact of the pandemic on the sector, an urgent requirement for an industry-wide body was identified to provide a co-ordinated voice during the national response and recovery planning.
The group has now been formed comprising 17 senior members from across the industry representing a range of events including professional sport, music, culture and business featuring organisers, venues, local authorities and the supply chain.
In light of the urgency of the current situation the group has moved quickly to make representation to Fiona Hyslop, Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Fair Work and Culture, citing the key concerns of the industry ahead of the Scottish Government’s next review of lockdown phases on 18 June.
