Watch: Crowd Economy & Remote Participation Workshop

Crowd Economy & Remote Participation Workshop from Highlands and Islands Enterprise on Vimeo.

Crowdsurfing With Water Wings

Whilst we might all like the rush of being safely carried around by the many adoring hands of our audience, the crowd has many other, and probably more enduring ways to be beneficial to our creative businesses. From crowdsourcing to collaborative consumption via open innovation and thorough crowdfunding - the crowd economy has many forms and many valuable ways of helping us do what we do better, cheaper, quicker and bigger. But it is neither a simple nor an easy approach to master so a bit of help is always welcome. This one-hour workshop will provide you with the key fundamentals you need to figure out where this approach could work for you and how you can go about catching the wave! Drawing on practical examples and the theories of the crowd economy, XpoNorth Sector Specialist Tim Wright unpacks the value available and the skills needed to succeed.

A Practical Guide to Remote Participation in the Creative and Cultural Sectors

For many cultural projects, its greatest asset presents its greatest challenge - the location. With reference to inspiring examples from the Highlands and Islands, the rest of Scotland and broader International marketplace, XpoNorth Sector Specialist Dougal Perman will present a seminar on what’s possible, what to think about, how to approach a live stream, what the audience get out of it and how to ensure a return on investment. Case studies will include Cowal Highland Gathering (Dunoon), Granite Noir (Aberdeen) and Glenfiddich Piping Championship (Blair Atholl).
