Aileen Elder
It’s been a busy two weeks learning how to become a radio producer and as a result it’s been fun, entertaining, interesting, spontaneous at times, inspiring and it’s made me want to do more radio producing, so I must have been doing something right. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2012/producers/aileen-elder
Aimee Hinds
Well what an amazing two weeks it’s been. It’s been challenging, rewarding and a fantastic experience overall. When I first arrived I didn’t really know what to expect, but if you are taking part next year. Expect this: Fun, intense training; many nights out; introductions to some fantastic live music and amazing contacts. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2012/producers/aimee-hinds

It’s the day after the final day and, outwith a keen interest in community radio, I’m still not exactly sure ‘why’ I signed up for this course four weeks ago. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2012/producers/ali-murray
Breege Smyth
I am writing this blog on the final day of the Radio goNORTH trainee producer course. There is a calm atmosphere, the lull after the storm that was Radio goNORTH. I am elated, deflated and exhausted all at the same time. In the fuzz of exhaustion I will try and give you a flavour of the last two weeks. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2012/producers/breege-smyth

Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Features Going Back to My Roots
Paul lived in Inverness 40 years ago when he was 6 years old, but only for a short time. Over the years his dad’s army job saw him move around to places like Singapore and Edinburgh. However something about his time in Inverness stuck in his mind over the years. He has a vivid memory of the short walk home from Lochardil Primary School to his old home on Laggan Road. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2013/features/going-back-to-my-roots

Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Features Market Barred
Today Freyja went to the Market Bar for the first time to find out who and what happens on the oldest and smallest stage in Inverness. She talked to Shirley to get a setting behind one of our GoNorth venues. Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Features Paddy and Mark’s Monstrous Adventure
We were put into pairs again like yesterday but my new partner in crime was the one and only Mark Thompson. Our package was to be on ‘The Loch Ness Monster’- exciting stuff I know! I wouldn’t by a long stretch of the imagination label us as experts. We recognised that we really were needing education about the Monster and the myth. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2013/features/paddy-and-marks-monstrous-adventure

We wanted to see what the venues for goNORTH Festival were like at the extreme ends of the scale from the smallest stage and the oldest history of the Market Bar, to the MASSIVE and newest venue, The Ironworks, which we trainees call ‘home’ in this first week. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2013/features/the-ironworks-maria-hall
Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Features The Sneck Trecks
Hello all gonorthies, my name's Chloe Hogg and myself and my fellow collage buddy Stephen Mackay have put together for Radio goNORTH a set of interviews with the public called ‘The Sneck Trecks’. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2013/features/the-sneck-trecks

Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Live Sessions Black International
Seonaidh and Innes fought to get Black international first thing on their show to open on a high. The team rushed about as Jo Mango packed up her many instruments, Black International casually sound checked and were ready to play right on time. The duo, Stewart Allan and Craig Peebles, played one of their three goNORTH gigs for us. Previously they played outside at the Creative Skate Store in town, and at Blackfriars. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2013/live-sessions/black-international
Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Live Sessions Duncan Overmeer
Duncan Overmeer was lucky enough to be our first recorded interview and session musician whilst we were based backstage of the Ironworks. He travelled all the way from the Western Isles to join us, but had tales of living in London as a metal musician and coming to the decision Scotland has too much to offer. He proceeded to blow us away with his song Rumour Mill that he has been all over the country promoting for his album launch. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2013/live-sessions/duncan-overmeer
Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Live Sessions Dylan Tierney
Dylan Tierney is another local musician who joined us at our base in the Ironworks. He shocked us all when he let slip he was only 15 years old, but has already gigged around the country. He bravely played to a room full of intent listeners. Amongst us was 15 year old Seonaidh working the sound desk. Dylan talked of inspirations such as Tommy Reilly, Jake Bugg and John Lennon, all of which come through in his music. It is an exciting time for Dylan Tierney and we hope to see more of him in the future. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2013/live-sessions/dylan-tierney
Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Live Sessions Friends in America
Friends in America popped into the Radio goNORTH tent on the last day to find out what all the fuss was about and decided to jump on board with a live session. They squeezed into Stephen’s final show on Thursday to play two songs and keep the energy in the tent pumped as time raced towards the last song of broadcast. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2013/live-sessions/friends-in-america
Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Live Sessions Garden of Elks
The Garden of Elks have been selected to join the goNORTH tour appearing at Belladrum and Wickerman festival along with OK Social Club and Jemma Tweedie. They were invited onto Innes and Seonaidh’s show to play a couple of songs. Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Live Sessions Ilona
Ilona joined us for the second year in the gardens of the BBC for another live session and interview (you can still listen to last years session here). They arrived looking sharp with cowboy shoes and an Elvis Presley guitar. She sang us two songs and discussed her lyrics about love with Paul and Maria. She has recently released a new single “Love is Stupid”. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2013/live-sessions/ilona

Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Live Sessions Little Fire
Jamie McGeechan of Little Fire joined Radio goNORTH for Mark and Freyja’s show presented by Vic Galloway. The musician from Ayr came and played a couple of songs and stuck around for a while soaking in the excitement of being in Inverness for goNORTH. Fortunately Jamie was there to kindly lend Max of Saint Max and the Fanatics his guitar, and to see Jemma Tweedie play a session for Innes and Seonaidh. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2013/live-sessions/little-fire
Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Live Sessions Miniature Dinosaurs
This was the second year at goNORTH for Miniature Dinosaurs, and was a packed out gig for them in the Room. Two of the band members joined Paul and Maria on Radio goNORTH to crack a joke and play two songs before they headed back off down the road to continue touring. We were all excited to have them in the marquee after the whole team had seen their gig the night before. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2013/live-sessions/miniature-dinosaurs
Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Live Sessions Protection Patrol Pinkerton

Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Live Sessions Red Ronson
Red Ronson were the first live session of Radio goNORTH 2013 and set the marquee off to a flying start. The local Invernesian band were a noticeable presence amongst us with their ukelele’s, matching t-shirts, and live argument mid song. They played 2 songs and stuck around for a chat on Mark and Freyja’s Tuesday morning show and were the perfect way to set the Radio goNORTH live sessions rolling. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2013/live-sessions/red-ronson
Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Live Sessions Saint Max and the Fanatics

Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Live Sessions The Sea Atlas
The Sea Atlas brought a breath of fresh air into the marquee as the four members held the crowd with one song. Singer Calum talked about how Kenny the bass player may not have made it to the gig for being stuck offshore so they brought in Jane on the fiddle... https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2013/live-sessions/the-sea-atlas

This year of Radio goNORTH has been amazing. The festival itself has grown, the word has spread and the crowds of people have been delightful. The atmosphere over the past two days has been buzzing. Looking around the crowds of people at the live gigs, and see music Producers who’ve come up for GoNORTH with massive grins on their faces partially demonstrates the success of goNORTH 2013. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2013/producers/freyja-harris

Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Producers' Highlights Innis Snelling
I was lucky enough to be offered a place on Radio goNORTH three days after my last ever university exam – So it was great timing. While I was at university I did some bits and pieces for the radio society https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2013/producers/innis-snelling
Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Producers' Highlights Maria Hall
aving attended this Radio Production course in it’s first year I had thought it could not possibly be topped! In my summary of the 2012 experience I said my only criticism was that it was too short and trying to take in ALL the information in such an intensive two weeks, I found very difficult. I still stand by that, as with the extra two weeks this year everything just fell into place. I now feel I can confidently volunteer to be a runner or serve an apprenticeship with any radio station. https://xponorth.co.uk/xponorth-live/archive/2013/producers/maria-hall
Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Producers' Highlights Mark Thompson

On Tuesday local folk rock Sunday Herald band competition winners Dorec-a-belle played a live session for us.
