Radio goNORTH Archive 2013 Features Paddy and Mark’s Monstrous Adventure

What a day!

Usually I am given a few days to do a package. Today I was given a few hours!

We were put into pairs again like yesterday but my new partner in crime was the one and only Mark Thompson. Our package was to be on ‘The Loch Ness Monster’- exciting stuff I know! I wouldn’t by a long stretch of the imagination label us as experts. We recognised that we really were needing education about the Monster and the myth.

We wanted to get a real insight into this famous creature, so we took a trip to Dores beach to find out more! Mark and I were lucky enough to get an interview with none other than Steven Feltham, otherwise known as the ‘Nessie Hunter’. Steven is to Nessie what Steve Irvine was to crocodiles! He is something of a local celebrity.

Steven was generous with his time and knowledge, and we recorded some excellent background noises from the water’s edge. The area has an atmosphere which is quite unique, which we have hopefully captured. We headed back to HQ , with the deadline looming closer and the minutes ticking away. We were met with some irritating technical difficulties. Mark and I shared a few well chosen expressions of frustration as we met these challenges!

We finally managed to edit the feature and mixed it down just in time for the deadline! Pheew, happy days!

PS Anyone fancy going Monster Hunting?
