Publishing Scotland’s Marion Sinclair will be joined by leading author, historian and broadcaster, Kate Williams, for an insightful discussion on the joys and challenges of writing historical fact and fiction. One of the most respected voices in her field, Williams also lends her expert knowledge across numerous TV and radio shows and will offer her unique perspective on the dynamics of bringing history to life for readers, viewers and listeners.

Chief Executive, Publishing Scotland
Marion Sinclair is the Chief Executive of Publishing Scotland, the trade and development body for the book publishing industry in Scotland, and a membership body with over 60 publishers across Scotland. She began her career in commissioning fiction and non-fiction for Polygon, an award-winning Edinburgh-based publisher, before going into lecturing and then business development. Marion has been in her current role since 2008.

Kate Williams is a professor of history, historian, novelist and broadcaster. She has presented TV shows on BBC and Channel 5 from Secrets of the Royal Palaces to Inside Versailles and is the in-house royal historian for CNN. Her ninth and most recent book, 'Rival Queens' was on Mary, Queen of Scots.
