XpoNorth Digital x Scottish Games Week: In Conversation with Dave Taylor
XpoNorth’s Jessica Fox sits down for an intimate one to one chat with history-making game designer and programmer Dave Taylor (Doom, Quake, Abuse, Beakiez, Band Together). This special session sees Dave deliver a candid discussion on his career to date, offer his unique insight into the future of the industry and share invaluable tips for those looking to enter the gaming world.
Dave Taylor:
While best-known for his role as one of the original developers of "Doom" and "Quake," Dave Taylor has had a varied career as an engineer, researcher, producer, teacher, representative, and advisor. Taylor longs for the days of 4:3 ratio 17" laptops, eschews any interface not a CLI, and loves to help people fall in love with bash and vim. He currently works as CTO of Blue Vishnu, which is developing a new breed of photogrammetry ingest pipelines for use in 3D character and avatar scans. Taylor has a BSEE from UT Austin and mostly uses it to apply frequency domain analysis to altogether too much. In his middle age, he has become a proud vegan and abstainer from airplanes, telephones, and shampoo.
