HMUK Scotland: Spotlight on Career Longevity

Help Musicians Scotland will be discussing career longevity with Stuart Braithwaite (Mogwai, Rock Action Records), Jenn Butterworth (one of Scotland's leading folk guitarists) and Dave Arcari (touring blues musician, Buzz Records). Help Musicians Scotland is the Scottish office of leading independent music charity; Help Musicians UK. The charity is there for professional musicians of all genres, offering a lifetime of support in times of crisis, illness, and funding for career development.

    Suzanne’s twenty-year international career blends commercial and creative sector expertise, which has seen her consulting on and delivering holistic support and services for entrepreneurial creatives and musicians across the UK and the US. Suzanne is focused on delivering direct and impactful support for Scotland’s musicians.

    Stuart Braithwaite
    Mogwai / Rock Action Records

    Stuart Braithwaite is a founding member of prolific Scottish band Mogwai and co-owner/founder of record label Rock Action Records. Mogwai have released nine studio albums over a 22 year career. The band have also produced, written and recorded sound tracks for KIN, Les Revenants , Atomic: Living in Dread and Promis), Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait and more.

    Dave Arcari
    Blues Musician, Buzz Records

    Seasick Steve slide guitarist & songwriter Dave Arcari continues to build his audience in the USA with once or twice-annual tours since 2013. Arcari maintains his presence on the UK and European touring and festival circuits. A former debt collector, Arcari cut his musical teeth busking on the streets of Glasgow before forming his first band Summerfield Blues.

    Jenn Butterworth
    Folk Musician

    Jenn Butterworth is one of the foremost folk guitarists in the UK acoustic music scene. Based in Glasgow, Scotland, she has become a lynchpin of the vibrant folk acoustic scene. In recent years she has performed on over ten studio albums. Jenn is also a highly recognised teacher with a wide range of teaching experience.
